DVD Releases: Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Depp’s Diary
Maybe it’s a quiet week on the Blu-Ray and DVD release front because of Valentine’s Day, or perhaps it has to do with the blockbuster that had the rare weekend release on Saturday, Breaking Dawn Part 1. That film leads the pack of new home video releases, and it is joined by The Rum Diary and The Human Centipede 2 today.
Breaking Dawn Part 1: Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart) finally tie the knot and make their love forever. Of course fans of the series know that when Bella comes back from their honeymoon pregnant, forever takes on a whole new meaning. Taylor Lautner is back as his brooding self, aka Jacob, as he is less than pleased with this union. But Lautner elevates his game and is actually the best thing about this film as he sucks up his pride and defends the newlyweds. The Blu-Ray and DVD extras abound including a spellbinding (for fans), six-part making-of documentary and a feature that is sure to cause high-pitched screams from fans worldwide, Edward and Bella’s personal wedding video!

The Rum Diary: Johnny Depp delights in his latest foray into playing a version of author Hunter S. Thompson onscreen. The film failed to light any fires in theaters and deserves to find an audience on Blu-Ray and DVD. The film is great fun and features scene-stealing turns from Aaron Eckhart (check out our exclusive video interview), Giovanni Ribisi (also in an exclusive video interview) and Amber Heard.
